HuffPost Poll Asks People if Kavanaugh’s Accuser Sounds Credible; the Results Are Stunning

H/T Right Wing Folks.

Beyond any doubt, the leftist rag the Huffington Post was shocked by the poll results.

More than a week after Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination hearings, a debate is raging across the nation over whether a woman accusing him of groping her back in the 1980s has a credible testimony.

Christine Blasey Ford claimed that Kavanaugh attacked her at a drunken party back when they were both in high school. She sent a letter to Democrats, who chose to sit on the information for weeks before leaking it to the press right before a planned confirmation vote to install Kavanaugh into the highest judicial position in the land.

Now Ford and the Senate Judiciary Committee, which recently finished scrutinizing Kavanaugh, are wrangling over how to conduct an investigation into her accusation to see if it’s credible — and disqualifying.

The far-left Huffington Post decided to take a poll to see just how many people think Kavanaugh’s accuser is presenting a credible story.

They were likely shocked by the results.

According to the HuffPo/YouGov polling results, published by the Daily Caller, the number of people that find Ford’s claim credible is low. Very low.

Only 28% of men polled felt that her story was true — that Kavanaugh did, indeed, grope Ford and may have been trying to rape her. Even fewer women found the story credible — just 25%.

As for who found the accusation “not credible,” most people couldn’t say that definitively either. 34% of men and 23% of women found it “not credible.”

That leaves 46% of people who are either “not sure” or “haven’t heard enough to say” if Ford’s accusation rings true or not in their minds.

As one Daily Caller commenter pointed out, “It doesn’t matter what any of us feel or believe. We shouldn’t convict or acquit on our feelings or belief.”

It doesn’t matter what any of us feel or believe. We shouldn’t convict or acquit on our feelings or belief.

But the poll helped illustrate how the bizarre events surrounding Ford’s allegations against Kavanaugh have made most people hesitant to believe her 100% until more evidence is revealed.

For instance, the Democrats had her accusation in-hand for a long time before they leaked it at a “political opportune moment,” as Committee chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said in his own scathing letter to Ranking Member Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

Kavanaugh himself denies the attack, as do two witnesses Ford named. Ford herself is very hazy on when or where the alleged assault took place. It’s left a lot of people doubtful and wanting to see some solid evidence to backup her claim.

President Trump commented on the matter, too, making it clear that Ford should be heard and something should be done if Kavanaugh really did assault her. But it was also clear that the president is unconvinced.

According to the Associated Press, Trump told reporters on Wednesday, “Look, if she [Ford] shows up and makes a credible showing, that’ll be very interesting. We’ll have to make a decision.”

He added, “But I can only say this: He [Kavanaugh] is such an outstanding man. Very hard for me to imagine that anything happened.”

Former President George W. Bush joined others in standing up for Kavanaugh’s character and throwing his full support behind him. It was a move many people did not expect.

Meanwhile, Ford indicated on Thursday that she’s willing to testify but she doesn’t want to follow the Senate’s timeline, Reuters reported.

“A hearing on Monday is not possible and the Committee’s insistence that it occur then is arbitrary in any event,” one of her lawyers, Debra Katz, said on her behalf, adding that, “She wishes to testify, provided that we can agree on terms that are fair and which ensure her safety.”

Ford has already received about $210,000 in less than 48 hours — via a Go Fund Me campaign — to cover any security costs she might have. The Committee has also offered her numerous options for testifying before them, even in private, if she wants.
