I guess graduating “cum laude” from Boston University does not mean you are well educated.
If she is the best and the brightest that Boston University has to offer I would hate to see the worst of Boston University.
Alexanderia Ocasio-Cortez, who has bragged about her socialist ideas for the United States, and has suggested she could be president, has been corrected – publicly – for her misunderstanding of American government.
“The 3 branches of government: executive, legislative, judicial,” wrote Ryan Saavedra on social media, giving Ocasio-Cortez a lesson.
It was in response to her video statement that the three “chambers” of government were something else.
In fact, she started out by claiming there were three chambers of Congress.
Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: “If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress — Uh, rather, all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House.”

“If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress – uh, rather, all three chambers of government, the presidency, the Senate, and the House…” she explained.
Molly Prince at the Daily Caller News Foundation noted, “Progressive darling and Democratic Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York didn’t accurately name the three branches of government on Sunday despite her upcoming role as a congresswoman.”
The report continued, “The self-proclaimed Democratic socialist seemed to be confusing the two chambers of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate, with the three branches of American government, the Executive, Legislative and Judicial.”
The report points out she graduated “cum laude” from Boston University in 2011.
Radio host Rush Limbaugh on Monday called Ocasio-Cortez, “The ‘It Girl’ of the Democrat Party … who doesn’t even know what the three branches of government are.”
“This is American public education at work,” Limbaugh added. “She’s a former bartender. You gotta wonder if she knows the difference between Scotch, bourbon and whiskey. You know, the three chambers of liquor.”
On social media, she responded angrily to criticism of her statement, complaining, “Maybe instead of Republicans drooling over every minute of footage of me in slow-mo, waiting to chop up word slips that I correct in (sic) real-tomd, they actually step up enough to make the argument they want to make. That they don’t believe people deserve a right to healthcare.”
Shortly after she was elected to Congress, Ocasio-Cortez participated in a sit-in in the office of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
A report from Townhall said, “Ocasio-Cortez met with members from the Sunrise Movement, a nationwide coalition of young liberals concerned with climate change, in an effort to send a message to Rep. Pelosi that this was the true base of the Democratic Party. If the Democratic leaders wanted unity, they would have to listen and work with these young progressives.”
That would, presumably, leave America to elect its president solely by the popular vote, which would give absolute power over those decisions to the eight or nine most populous states.
It would permanently disenfranchise entire states like Wyoming, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Montana and such, where the population is less that a single New York city borough.
Ocasio-Cortez called the constitutional provision that allows even those states to play a role in elections “a shadow of slavery’s power on America today that undermines our nation as a democratic republic.”
