John Walker Lindh should have been eradicated like the vermin he is.
Imagine being 9-years-old and saying goodbye to your dad, only to find out months later that he has been killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
The last time she saw her dad was when she was waving at him as he walked away.
Then how would you feel if you learned that one of the Taliban responsible for your dad’s murder was to be released early from prison?
That 9-year-old was Alison Spann and her dad was Johnny ‘Mike’ Spann who was killed shortly after being questioned by John Walker Lindh, an American who joined the Taliban.
Lindh had been captured and imprisoned, but he was released yesterday several years early and Alison says it feels like a slap in the face to her and her family.
Washington Examiner – ‘Slap in the face’: Daughter of CIA officer killed after 9/11 slams ‘American Taliban’ release – The last time Alison Spann saw her father, she was 9 years old. “My family drove to CIA,” she recalls. “I was the only one who cried. The last memory I have of my dad is him walking away from us in the dark with all his bags.”
That was shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Johnny “Mike” Spann was 32, a CIA paramilitary officer and former Marine who knew he was bound for northern Afghanistan and might never return. Less than two months later — and moments after he had been questioning a bedraggled Taliban detainee named John Walker Lindh — he was killed by a mob of prisoners attempting to escape from the remote fortress of Qala-i-Jangi.
In a cruel twist of fate, Alison Spann’s mother died of cancer a month later. Suddenly, the young girl became the first orphan of what was already known as the War on Terror…
I find it horrible that Lindh that only been sentenced to just 20 years in prison after he betrayed his country.
In years past, people like Lindh were lined up in front of a firing squad and shot for being a traitor.
If not executed for treason, then he should have been locked up, the key thrown away and the door to his cell welded shut.
