Assault Victim Shoots Two Time Attacker to Death

USA –-(Ammoland.com)- Mountain News in Arrowhead, CA reports 07-18-19 a 29-year-old resident of Crestline was shot July 11 at Lake Drive and Lake Gregory Drive moments after he began to assault a 27-year-old male victim. This is according to an incident report and a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives responded to a residence on Lake Gregory Drive to conduct the investigation. They learned that three men had approached the victim around 9 P.M.

The victim recognized one of the approaching men as an associate of a suspect who had beaten him up him back in January. That assault resulted in the victim being hospitalized.

As the three men approached, the victim felt threatened by them and their verbal taunts. He made his way toward his car.

The most aggressive suspect, age 29, apparently grabbed the 27-year-old victim’s shirt and punched him multiple times.

The victim was still able to retrieve his firearm from a compartment in the car. He fired the gun ending the assault around 9:15 P.M.

An off-duty nurse who was nearby, was administering medical aid to the 29-year-old when deputies arrived. The nurse informed deputies of the gunshot wound to the lateral left chest, about one inch above the pectoral muscle.

At that time, 9:22 p.m., a reporting party told a 911 dispatcher that the 29-year-old was awake and in pain. An ambulance transported him to St. Bernadine’s Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 10:12 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have information, are asked to contact Detective Eric Ogaz, (909) 387-3589. The incident will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

Comments:

The reason for the assault is not detailed in the reports. Cleary the victim here had reason to fear great bodily harm as he was beaten badly enough to be hospitalized by associates of these men 6 or 7 months earlier.

No mention is made of the firearm in the car being permitted under CA law.

The first rule of self-defense is don’t get killed. This especially applies when you get killed because you are trying to obey the some firearm law. Only survivors get to defend themselves in court.

#GUNVOTE, Don’t Risk Your Rights ~ VIDEO

H/T AmmoLand.

If you are not registered to vote register.

Then vote in the next election and vote in 2020.

USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- Our rights as American citizens, like the muscles in our body, require exercise or else they will start to deteriorate over time. When it comes to our right to bear arms, exercising it can be as simple as taking your handgun to the range.

To truly protect our rights, however, we need to have a say in who makes our laws.

When candidates for the most prestigious elected office in our country are proud to say that they want to confiscate the legally purchased firearms that millions of responsible gun owners use recreationally,  to hunt or protect their families, America’s gun owners need to vote to make sure our rights are never infringed upon by opportunist politicians seeking soundbites rather than Real Solutions that make our communities safer

NSSF Keeps You Informed

That is precisely why the NSSF, as the firearms industry’s trade association, created #GUNVOTE. Once you are registered to vote, #GUNVOTE becomes your one-stop shop for everything an American gun owner needs to know about how to make a difference in our elections. First, it is important to arm oneself with knowledge about the candidates that you will vote for and how those candidates will treat our Second Amendment rights.

For instance, the #GUNVOTE candidate tracker keeps a comprehensive, up to date, and detailed list of every candidate running for president and what those candidates have said that could impact your right to keep and bear arms. Over one year away from the 2020 presidential election, many of the presidential candidates’ platforms already call for ill-informed and extremist positions such as firearm confiscation, bans on popular sporting rifles, federal licensing programs, prohibitive ammunition taxes, and more. With #GUNVOTE, you can easily find out who will protect your rights and who is proposing radical agendas that will do nothing to improve public safety.

Get Informed, Go Vote

Once armed with the facts, #GUNVOTE will help you figure out when and where you can cast your vote. Early voting and absentee voting differs from state to state, but #GUNVOTE conveniently lists out all U.S states with links to their respective Secretary of State’s website where more details about the process can be found. For those who wait until election day to cast their ballot, #GUNVOTE will also tell you your polling place so that exercising your right to vote is as easy as possible.

Ultimately, #GUNVOTE is a tool created to ensure every citizen understands the importance of voting to protect America’s firearms freedoms. At the same time, however, #GUNVOTE is a tool that is only as effective as the people who use it. It is our duty as gun owners to use the information provided by #GUNVOTE to ensure that we bring our friends, family, and ourselves to the polls to protect our rights that, once taken away, we will never be able to truly restore.

Armed Citizen Saves Kidnapping Victim In California

H/T Bearing Arms.

Without this good guy with a gun the woman beyond any doubt been raped and murdered.

Authorities in Redding, California are praising a concealed-carry holder who stopped a kidnapping and helped police put the suspect in a series of violent crimes behind bars on Thursday afternoon.

Carl Hulsey allegedly attacked his wife and her sister at a home in Redding before taking off in a car with his sister-in-law. When officers arrived a few minutes later, Hulsey’s wife told police that he had assaulted them both, but had fled with her sister. As police were scouring the nearby neighborhoods for Hulsey, they received a report of a man at a gas station holding an individual at gunpoint.

Officers rushed to the scene and upon arrival, they learned the person with the handgun was actually a good samaritan who had confronted Hulsey after seeing victim #2 in the vehicle in distress.

RPD says Hulsey fled from the Mini Mart location after the samaritan pointed his handgun, and began heading southeast in a field towards the Sacramento River, and was eventually apprehended.

The woman who was kidnapped confirmed to police that she had been taken against her will, and also said that Hulsey attempted to sexually assault her while in the car. He’s now behind bars on multiple felony charges, including domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking, kidnapping, sexual battery, and resisting arrest.

We don’t know much about the armed citizen, other than the fact that they are a concealed carry holder. We also know that Shasta County, where Redding is located, has the highest concealed carry rates in the state. According to the California Department of Justice, there are 45.6 concealed carry licenses for every 1,000 residents, or about 45 times the number of concealed carry licenses in Los Angeles County. Shasta County, with less than 180,000 residents, has issued more than 8,000 concealed carry licenses. Compare that to San Francisco County, with a population just under 900,000 residents and 2 concealed carry licensees. I didn’t leave out a digit, by the way. Two. That’s it.

The odds of you running into one of the two concealed carry holders in San Francisco when you need them are pretty small. Thankfully for the kidnapping victim in Shasta County, her odds were a bit better. I hope that Sheriff Tom Bosenko will be talking about this case with some of his fellow sheriffs in the coming days, particularly those sheriffs in coastal California that refuse to issue concealed carry licenses or give special treatment to their county’s powerful and politically connected residents.

Senate ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban, Outlaws 205 Guns

H/T Breitbart.

Gun owners need to put enough pressure on the GOP and make sure this bill never passes.

The Senate “assault weapons” ban outlaws 205 specific guns, magazines holding 11 rounds or more, and bump stocks, which are already illegal.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), the bill’s sponsor, cites alleged benefits from the 1994-2004 “assault weapons” ban in an effort to bolster the chances for passage of the new version. However, she ignores the Department of Justice’s National Institute of Justice report showing that the 1994-2004 ban could not take credit for any reduction in crime.

In addition to banning 205 different guns, “high capacity” magazines, and bump stocks, the Senate “assault weapons” ban includes a universal background check requirement for any future transfer of firearms covered by the ban.

Like the 1994-2004 ban, Feinstein’s bill defines “assault weapons” based on cosmetic features. Therefore, the legislation bans commonly owned semiautomatic rifles that take detachable magazines and “[have] one or more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel or a folding or telescoping stock.”

During the September 12, 2019, Democrat debate, Robert “Beto” O’Rourke said, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15.”

The National Shooting Sports Foundation calculates 16 million-plus privately owned AR-15s are in the United States.

Is Sleepy Joe Down For The Count? New Poll Numbers Have Warren AHEAD Of Obama’s Veep

H/T Clash Daily.

Does Princess Fauxachontias have what it takes to put Slow Joe The Gaff Machine Biden down for the full count?

For such a ‘great fighter’, Sleepy Joe is looking punch drunk in the polls right now. Can he even make it past Super Tuesday?

Biden and his supporters are in trouble, and they know it.

They’ve started eyeing a do-or-die option.

His supporters are looking at breaking their ‘no help from Super Pac’ promise, just to keep his run alive.

Mr. Riddle said a final decision about whether to deploy a super PAC for Mr. Biden would be made in “the coming weeks.”

Mr. Biden clearly needs to jolt his campaign, which has lost ground in the early nominating states to Senator Elizabeth Warren, who has been largely unscathed by her rivals. And the vice president’s longtime friends increasingly believe that Ms. Warren’s growing strength — along with Mr. Trump’s offensive — is reason enough to risk the backlash they would get from their opponents and campaign finance reform advocates for creating a group reliant on large contributions. But Mr. Riddle said there had been no final decision on whether to proceed with a super PAC, in part because of this risk. Mr. Biden’s two leading competitors for his party’s nomination, Ms. Warren and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, have made getting big money out of politics a major theme of their campaigns. And Mr. Biden has already drawn criticism for his comparative reliance on wealthy donors to fund his candidacy.

Actual footage of the Biden campaign right now.

And for the joyless, boneheaded media censors in fact-checkerland:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren is surging in the Democratic presidential race, catching or passing early front runner ex-Vice President Joe Biden according to polls from three early caucus and primary states.

The latest, a Monmouth University survey of New Hampshire voters, shows Warren with a 27-25% lead over Biden in the state that holds America’s first presidential primary. Sen. Bernie Sanders, a big winner in 2016, has faded to third at 12%.

Word is, Biden has all but given up on the first two Primaries and is pinning his hopes on Super Tuesday.

The question is, by then, will it already be too late?

Democrat Sends Police in Tactical Gear to Man’s House Over A Gun Meme

H/T AmmoLand.

I am speechless.

Weston, FL –-(Ammoland.com)- The wife of a Weston, Florida city commissioner filed a police report after a Florida man posted a meme to a Facebook group.

Peter Van Antwerpen, a resident of Weston, was upset that some in the people in the Weston government joined a lawsuit to eliminate preemption law in Florida.

Preemption is the idea that state law trumps local laws. This idea prevents counties such as Broward County from passing local gun ban laws and mandatory gun buybacks. Some residents are concerned if the courts remove the preemption clause that their county will adopt an “assault weapons ban.”

Van Antwerpen posted a meme of Charleston Heston holding up a rifle with the caption “from my cold dead hands.” The picture and quote originate from the 2000 NRA convention where Heston gave an impassioned speech about gun rights.

In the social media post by Van Antwerpen a few anti-gun politicians were named. Van Antwerpen wondered if the gun banning politicians were going to lead the confiscation effort in person. Nowhere in his post were any threats issued.

Van Antwerpen wrote:

“Enufsaid…..let them come!”

“Since you are on the lawsuit Peggy Brown, Dan Stermer and Byron Jaffe I hope you are the ones to come confiscate my weapons.”

Van Antwerpen is also a well-known philanthropist in the community. He is involved in local politics fighting against liberal corruption. The semi-retired executive is a strong believer in the second amendment and the Constitution.

Beth Jaffe, who is the wife of city commissioner Bryon Jaffe, felt that the meme was threatening her life. Ms. Jaffe contacted the district office of the Broward County Sheriff’s Department and asked for them to investigate Van Antwerpen.

Four members from the newly formed “Threat Assessment Unit” showed up banging on Van Antwerpen’s door. The deputies entered the house with full tactical gear. The police did not have any warrants.

Van Antwerpen, in a bath towel, greeted the members of the unit. The investigator’s started to question Van Antwerpen about the social media post. He is a major supporter of law enforcement, so he chose to answer their questions.

Van Antwerpen explained the meme and asked the lead investigator if the meme broke any laws. The Sheriff’s Deputy admitted that it did not break any laws. The investigator concluded that Van Antwerpen was not a danger to anyone. He gave Van Antwerpen the police report number.

“I post a comment,” Van Antwerpen told AmmoLand. “It was one of many. It wasn’t even the worst. It just had a meme attached to it.”

Van Antwerpen filed to get the police report, but it took the Broward County Sheriff’s Department three weeks to supply the police report. He did not get a reason for the delay, and AmmoLand’s calls and emails to the Broward County Sheriff’s Department were not returned.

Van Antwerpen noticed that Beth Jaffe took out the complaint against his post. Van Antwerpen’s wife and Jaffe have run-ins in the past. Jaffe and Van Antwerpen are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Antwerpen took to Facebook to highlight what he sees as a personal vendetta against his family.

“A city commission members wife, Beth Jaffe, who has a well known antipathy for my wife, myself and my family, sent an email to the threat assessment division of Broward Sheriffs Office and over a week later BSO deputies in full tactical gear showed up at our house to interrogate us on this post,” Van Antwerpen wrote on Facebook.

Another person Jaffe named in the complaint is Janet Klomburg. Klomburg posted in the comments, “I’m with ya brother!”

Klomburg told AmmoLand that she thinks Beth Jaffe abused her power. She said that Jaffe has a history of abusing her husband’s authority and using dirty tricks against her political adversaries.

Klomburg, who is a small business owner, was looking into claims of voter suppression of conservatives in Broward county. This investigation put Klomburg in Jaffe’s crosshairs.

“What they did was ruined my business in Weston,” Klomburg told AmmoLand. “She destroyed my business. She destroyed my name. She called me a white supremacist, a bigot, and a racist. “

According to Klomburg shortly after Jaffe’s accusations, she started to receive death threats by phone. AmmoLand was able to verify that Klomburg reported death threats. The police were not able to arrest a suspect in the case.

Klomburg and Van Antwerpen both explained to AmmoLand that people in the community are afraid of Jaffe’s wrath. I reached out to several members of the community through Facebook, and all expressed similar thoughts about Jaffe, and said that they did not want to become targets.

One anonymous Democrat stated that she equates what Jaffe did to SWATTING. SWATTING is the practice of pretending to be someone else and calling in a threat in the hopes that a SWAT team responds to the target’s house.

On December 28, 2017, Andrew Finch was shot and killed by police in his home during a SWATTING incident. Prosecutors charged Tyler Raj Barriss with organizing the event he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

AmmoLand reached out to Beth Jaffe, Bryon Jaffe, and the Broward County Sheriff’s Department. None have returned our calls or emails at the time of publishing.

Police Invade New Jersey Veteran’s Home, Try to Confiscate Guns Without a Warrant

H/T GunPowder Magazine.

Leonard Cottrell Jr could have died if one of the cops raiding his house had been a little trigger happy.

Two boys discussing what to do in a school shooting situation resulted in police invading one of the boy’s homes to confiscate his father’s guns, various sources report.

“[Leonard Cottrell, Jr.], 40, said he was working at Wawa on June 14 when he got a call from his wife around 9:30 p.m. that two police officers from the New Jersey State Police’s Hamilton station were at the doorstep of his Millstone home,” nj.com reported.

“The troopers, who patrol this sprawling Monmouth County township, were there, he said, because his 13-year-old son had made a comment at school about the Millstone Middle School’s security, and the officers wanted to confiscate Cottrell’s firearms as part of an investigation.”

“No one from the state was going to take my firearms without due process,” said Cottrell, who was deployed to Iraq three times.

“[Cottrell] said his wife allowed the officers to enter the home, and with her permission, they searched his son’s room — but they did not find any weapons, he said,” reported nj.com. “The officers, he said, didn’t have a warrant but still wanted to take his guns. Cottrell wouldn’t let them.”

New Jersey State Police said troopers took action as part of “a possible school threat,” but “determined that Mr. Cottrell’s weapons did not need to be seized.”
Cottrell agreed to keep his guns outside of his house until police finished their investigation; his son was forbidden from returning to school.

“It is outrageous and unacceptable that a student’s concern for lax security at his school could result in an attempt to confiscate his parents’ own firearms,” said Scott L. Bach, executive director of the Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs and a member of the NRA board of directors.

“In the Garden State, the usual approach is to confiscate first and ask questions later, and victims of this approach often don’t know their rights,” Bach said. “‎In this case, the victim pushed back and confiscation was avoided — but the circumstances surrounding the incident are outrageous. A student expressing concern over lack of security is not a reason to send police to the student’s home — but it might be a reason to send police to the school to keep students and teachers safe.”

Bach says police use “intimidation tactics to bully citizens into voluntarily surrendering their firearms under the confusion and fear of an unexpected visit from law enforcement.” Gun owners, Bach says, “should always call counsel before consenting to a seizure of firearms.”

“The terrible violation of Second Amendment rights this American hero has had to endure at the hands of law enforcement officers, whose job it is to keep us safe, not take away our ability to defend ourselves, is a disgrace and should serve as a wake-up call for all citizens of what will happen in every house across this country if we do not resolve to stand firm in fighting gun control,” said Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights.
