Trump Says ‘No’ National Lockdown, Doesn’t Believe It Will Ever Be Necessary

H/T Flag And Cross.

I hope President Trump keeps his word and not order a national lockdown.

President Trump recently stated during a press conference that a national lockdown would not likely ever be necessary to slow down the spread of the coronavirus, news which should be sweet, sweet music to those of us who love and enjoy our freedom.

Trump updated reporters and officials during a briefing held on Friday. The president said that after both California and New York have implemented strict regulations designed to stop the spread of the virus, he did not see the need for a nation-wide lockdown like the kind we’ve seen in China and Italy.

“I don’t think so,” Trump said when asked if he thought a national lockdown would be needed. “Essentially, you’ve done that in California, you’ve done that in New York. Those are two really hot beds. Those are probably the two hottest of them all in terms of hotspots.

“You go out to the Midwest, you go out to other locations and they are watching it on television but they dont have the same problems,” Trump continued. “So no, we are working with the governors and I don’t think we’ll ever find that necessary.”

Moments before, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top immunologist, praised the residents of California and New York for their sacrifice and said that the strict regulations put in place by the state governments were appropriate and necessary.

This is very good news, which should do wonders in lifting the spirits of those who have been diligent in practicing social distancing as a means of helping to flatten the curve of the spread of the disease.

The two main concerns about the virus are that it could spread to those who are elderly and immunocompromised and that patients with the illness could overload our healthcare system.

That’s why it’s so critical to “flatten the curve.”

Fortunately, it seems as though our efforts to do this are paying off, slowly but surely.
