Vulnerable Democrat Congressman on Kavanaugh: ‘The Democrats I Thought Went a Little Bit Too Far’

H/T Breitbart’s Big Government.

How long before the DNC takes Rep. Tom O’Halleran (D-AZ) to the woodshed and he has to walk back his comments?

Rep. Tom O’Halleran (D-AZ), a vulnerable Democrat seeking re-election in Arizona’s first congressional district in 2018, bucked his party’s leadership in public commentary on Monday evening in a television interview where he criticized Democrats for going “too far” with their opposition to now Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Speaking about Kavanaugh, O’Halleran said his party “went a little bit too far.”

“The Democrats I thought went a little bit too far,” O’Halleran said. “We’re supposed to ask probing questions. I don’t like it — I never did like it — when people got up there and pontificated time and time again about their position. This is supposed to be about a discussion back and forth between you and the nominee.”

O’Halleran is one of the Democrats from swing districts in the country that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is counting on to retake the Speaker’s gavel in November’s midterm elections, and scant polling on this race shows his Republican challenger Air Force veteran Wendy Rogers a few points ahead of him. O’Halleran is an ally of Pelosi, and voted for her to remain as Majority Leader at the beginning of this Congress when he first won his election, per a local news report at the time:

While he voted for Pelosi, O’Halleran said it was evident at the meeting that the caucus was ready for a change and for leadership to be more responsive to members.

“The underlying agreement was that there’s a need to change some of the ways we’ve been dealing with the caucus,” he said.

So, for O’Halleran to now come out against his party–Pelosi was just as vicious to Kavanaugh as Senate Democrats were–on this matter shows yet again just how deeply negative the effect of fierce Kavnaaugh opposition has been on Democrats as they seek to take the House majority away from Republicans for the first time since the 2010 midterm elections.

Holding this very rural Arizona district is critical to Democrats’ chances in November. If they are going to take the net 24 seats they need to claim from Republicans, they cannot afford to lose districts like this one in November. There are precious few GOP pickup opportunities in the country. Others exist in places like Minnesota, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, but for the handful of GOP opportunities to take seats away from Democrats there are dozens of opportunities for Democrats to take seats from Republicans.

Rogers, O’Halleran’s GOP opponent, appeared on Breitbart News Saturday this weekend, breaking down just how radical O’Halleran is–and the stakes at play in this election.

“My opponent—a first-term incumbent—has gone along with the liberal agenda. He voted against the tax cut, he would most assuredly vote for impeachment of our president. He tries to cast himself as moderate, but he’s anything but,” Rogers said.

“He actually—I don’t even know how you do this—he started off as a Republican, then became an Independent, and now he’s a Democrat,” Rogers added. “He’s all over the map, trying to be all things to all people.”

Rogers continued by noting this district may define the House majority–and she concluded by noting that what happened with regard to Kavanaugh is on the ballot this year.

“Our entire nation is hanging by the slender thread that runs through the House of Representatives, is the way I look at it, and the way all of my voters look at it,” Rogers said. “The feeling in my district is that we are at a pivot point, that the future of the country rests on whether or not our president is going to remain president. I tell people, we have the Supreme Court, we have the Senate, we have the presidency, but if we don’t hold the House, we are in for a just—a complete devolution and degradation of due process because of exactly what was on display this past week.”

UN, Not Americans, Responsible For 100,000 Guns On Black Market

H/T Bearing Arms.

It is past time to toss the United Nations out of America along with its pack of third world thugs and jackals.

A number of people seem to look at the United Nations as a good thing. In truth, it probably could have been something good, but instead what we see is a group that gives third-world hellholes the same standing as the United States and a platform that allows them to lecture us on all the ways we suck. It’s pretty rich coming from countries that have difficulty consistently feeding their people, but there you have it.

One area we get lectured to on is gun control. After all, the “civilized” nations all strictly restrict guns and we don’t even come close to what they do. Clearly, the hundreds of thousands of guns on the black market is because we refuse to embrace civilization and entertain a more enlightened position on firearms.

Only, well, the guns that are on the black market aren’t really our fault.

Gun control proponent Allison Pytlak explains that a benefit of the ‘new’ ATT would be, “the closing of legal loopholes to prevent diversion of arms to illicit markets … stopping diversion should result in fewer arms finding their ways to militias, criminals, and terrorists.” Though Pytlak argues this nicely, the fact that U.S. citizens privately hold approximately 320 million firearms, that rarely enter the Black Market arena, seems to eludes the thought process.

Behind all the pompous critiques, was the knowledge that they could not control their weapons, let alone ours. UN peacekeepers themselves are/were fueling the local Black Markets with firearms diverted from UN stockpiles. This is an important point that is rarely brought to light.

The ATT proponent’s failures are massive. It became so apparent to so many that the lie could no longer be covered up. The diversion of weapons, including real assault rifles, pistols, armored vehicles, grenade launchers, and heavy mortars, among other things, became such a routine occurrence that there was no other choice but for them to fully and openly disclose the fact.

Eric Berman, director of Small Arms Survey, an anti-weapons group, said in October of 2017, “what was once seen as not a problem or as too sensitive to discuss, is now viewed as something that needs to be addressed and is no longer taboo.”

Berman wrote a report, ‘Making a Tough Job More Difficult,’ which attempted to minimize the problem. He explained that the UN was, “Hindered by numerous budgetary, logistical, and infrastructure constraints; shortages in staffing and expertise; and gaps in UN policies and procedures.” Additional reports can be expected.

We suggest that you download this report for a more thorough read and send it around to your friends and family, to publicize it. It is the epitome of the incompetence and hypocrisy of the UN, and the proponents of the ATT. It is an example of their past failures and failures still to come in the future.

If the UN is not able to control its weapons, how can they expect others to do so? If the UN does not have the expertise, nor the will, to prevent diversion of its weapons, how can they expect to guide the world to a successful arms treaty?

Let’s be perfectly honest. The UN is nothing more than a dumpster fire. The UN’s purpose was to prevent another world war, but since then, it has tried to govern the entire planet. If it weren’t for the obstinance of countries like the United States, it probably would.

The thing is, the UN is the problem here. It expects us to fall in line with its thinking, but it can’t even conform to its rhetoric. It’s a classic case of “do as I say, not as I do.”

At least with the U.S., we protect the individual’s right to keep and bear arms, not just the tin-pot dictators and petty warlords.

Socialist Ocasio-Cortez Delivers ‘Jumbled Word Salad’ When Asked What She’ll Do In Congress

H/T Right Wing Folks.

This is what you sound like when you do not have any answers Hell she does not know what the questions are.

Socialist candidate Alexandria Ocasio Cortez has a hard time explaining, well, anything. So when she appeared on Friday on MSNBC, host Chris Hayes lobbed her the softest of pitches. Hayes, who rightly predicted the Democrat will win her heavily liberal district in New York, asked this simple question about what Cortez will do once she gets to Capitol Hill. “What’s your plan here?” he asked.

“Well, I think a lot of it has to do with changing our strategy around governance, you know. There is a lot of inside baseball, and inside the beltway, as you know, you always hear that term thrown around. But there are very few organizers in Congress and I do think that organizers operate differently. It’s a different kind of strategy and what it is is really about organizing and really thinking about that word ‘organizing’, segmenting people, being strategic in their actions and really bringing together a cohesive strategy of putting pressure on the chamber instead of only focusing on pressure inside the chamber,” the 28-year-old former bartender said.

Huh?

But Hayes loved the answer. “That’s a really interesting thought,” he said.

The research arm of the Republican National Committee mocked the answer.

ALASKA GOP Considering Whether To Throw Murkowski Out Of GOP For Opposing Kavanaugh

H/T Right Wing Folks.

Throw Murkowski out of the GOP she is a RINO.

The Alaska Republican party has requested that Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) submit any information she has that might dissuade them from reprimanding her for opposing Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

As AP reports, “Party Chairman Tuckerman Babcock says the committee could decide to issue a statement. Or he says it could withdraw support of Murkowski, encourage party officials to look for a replacement and ask that she not seek re-election as a Republican.”

Babcock noted that the Alaska GOP has, in the past, withdrawn support for other Republicans who caucused with Democrats.

After Murkowski voted against cloture last Friday, indicating she would vote against Kavanaugh in the Senate vote for confirmation to the Supreme Court, Babcock said he was “surprised.” He added, “It’s significant enough that I’m going to convene the whole state central committee, which is about 80 grassroots volunteers around the state, and we’ll start drafting what our response should be.”

Teacher Tweets About Killing Justice Kavanaugh, Gets Hit With Instant Karma

H/T Right Wing Folks.

This so-called teacher needs to be prosecuted to the maximum penalty under the law.

A special education teacher in Rosemount, Minnesota, has been put on paid administrative leave after she called for the killing of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh on Twitter.

In a now-deleted tweet, the teacher, Samantha Ness, tweeted a sick question.

“So whose [sic] gonna take one for the team and kill Kavanaugh?”

Matt Barber@jmattbarber

I’ve said it before: The Left’s next play is violence. They couldn’t stop , so they’ll try to kill him.

While her call to violence is the most concerning issue, it’s also worth pointing out that the woman struggled with basic grammar — and she’s supposed to be teaching children.

ISD 917 Superintendent Mark Zuzek confirmed to the Star Tribune that the teacher has been put on leave “pending the outcome of the investigation.”

Further, the FBI is reportedly aware of the tweet. It’s unclear whether they plan to conduct a formal investigation. Several Twitter users also reported the tweet to the Secret Service.

Ness has cause to be concerned.

“The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minnesota has prosecuted at least two people in recent years for making threats against federal district court judges in the state,” the report added.

Kavanaugh was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court on Saturday with a 50-48 vote. In one of his first acts as a justice, Kavanaugh made history by hiring four female clerks.

Brett Kavanaugh just hired the Supreme Court’s first all-women law clerk team

H/T The Week.

Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh made a promise and that promise has been kept.

The first all-female law clerk team.

The newly confirmed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has already fulfilled one of his promises.

After weeks of contentious hearings, the Senate voted to confirm the polarizing nominee Saturday evening. And Kavanaugh was already on the job Sunday morning with the court’s first-ever all-women team of law clerks by his side, The New York Times reports.

Even before sexual assault allegations rocked his confirmation process, concerns swirled around Kavanaugh’s stance on women’s right. Specifically, Democratic senators feared he would provide the court with a conservative majority that could facilitate the rolling back of Roe v. Wade. Kavanaugh tried to counter those concerns at his first round of confirmation hearings, touting how “no federal judge … has sent more women law clerks to clerk on the Supreme Court than I have.” He also said he had four female law clerks ready to work for him “on a moment’s notice,” which would make him “the first justice in the history of the Supreme Court to have a group of all-women law clerks.”

Those four women — Kim Jackson, Shannon Grammel, Megan Lacy, and Sara Nommensen — were at the Supreme Court on Sunday, aiding Kavanaugh ahead of his first case hearings this week, the Times details. Jackson will become one of three black law clerks working at the Supreme Court this term. She has previously worked for Kavanaugh, along with one of the other black clerks, per The Washington Post.

Kavanaugh will kick off his Supreme Court career Tuesday with a case about crimes involving firearms.
