12 Insane Reasons the Left Opposes Brett Kavanaugh (Yes, These Are Real)

H/T Breitbart’s Big Journalism.

I have been watching the loony left since I first got involved in politics in 1972 and they are getting nuttier every day.

Now that President Trump has nominated Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court the insanity has gotten worse.

Democrats and the establishment media have been doing the hard and patriotic work of vetting Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to replace Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. And boy, are they desperate to come up with something that’ll stick.

Here are twelve of the biggest MEGA-SCANDAL bombshells so far uncovered that almost certainly disqualify him from sitting on the nation’s highest court.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh Will Affect the Outcome of Supreme Court Decisions

During a Tuesday appearance on PBS’s NewsHour, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) stunned the world when she informed host Judy Woodruff that, as a Supreme Court Justice, Kavanaugh could affect the outcome of decisions made on the Supreme Court:

WOODRUFF: As you know, the president is calling Judge Kavanaugh one of the most qualified people ever to be nominated to the Supreme Court. Your view?

HARRIS: Well, listen, I would categorize this nomination differently, which is that this is one of the most important positions on the United States Supreme Court, because, of course, replacing Kennedy is about the swing vote on the United States Supreme Court.

It is outrageous Trump could not find someone to nominate whose vote will not count.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh Will Kill People

It does not get any more prestigious than the Yale Law community, and when over 200 students, faculty, and alumni gather together to tell us Kavanaugh will start killing people on the Court, we need to pay attention.

“People will die if he is confirmed,” their open letter reads, and it is time for those opposed to people dying to get together and stop the killing of people.

Because if we do not, people will die.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh Is a White Male

If you do not find Yalelies compelling, I dare you to deny the wisdom of former members of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, those who have formed the group Demand Justice, and have broken the news that Brett Kavanaugh is a white guy.

“Trump’s judges are overwhelmingly white men,” they wrote on their website.

Demand Justice was founded by Brian Fallon, Hillary’s former campaign spokesman, who is himself a white male; so if we are not supposed to take white males seriously, this creates a bit of a dilemma because we have a white male wanting to be taken seriously when telling us not to take another white male seriously, so if we are not supposed to take a white male can someone please help me because my brain just locked up.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh’s First Name Is ‘Brett’

White male Stephen Colbert dug up the fact that “Brett Kavanaugh” sounds like “a waiter at Ruby Tuesday’s.”

At first glance, that sounds like a ridiculous reason not to confirm a Supreme Court Justice, but hear Colbert out:

I don’t know much about Kavanaugh but I’m skeptical because his name is Brett. That sounds less like a Supreme Court justice and more like a waiter at a Ruby Tuesday. “Hey everybody, I’m Brett, I’ll be your Supreme Court justice tonight. Before you sit down, let me just clear away these rights for you.”

And the fact that one-percenter Colbert has probably not seen the inside of a Ruby Tuesday’s since Friends was on the air should not color our admiration of his penetrating insight.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh Was Nominated During the Current Year

NBC News’ Katy Tur, who has a real nose for these things, informed us of this shocking reveal Wednesday:

Do you think it’s appropriate to continue to take such a strict originalist view of the Constitution given it’s 2018 and not 1776? … The arc of history has shown that opinions have become more progressive… Americans are more progressive. Look at the polling. Most Americans support Roe v. Wade, gun control. They are split whether states should be able to restrict firearm ownership. But when it comes to money and politics, a majority want the next Justice to support limits on campaign spending by corporations and unions that goes against the Citizens United position.

Tur nosed around and discovered the year is not 1776;  and thanks to her keen sense of smell when it comes to sniffing out a big story, everyone now nose knows this, which is why Tur always beaks breaks the big stories.

Yep, those first and second amendments are long past their stale date, and it is time we had a Supreme Court that understands this.

Fact Check: Ms. Tur is off on her facts, but just by a nose. The Constitution was not written in 1776; that was the Declaration of Independence. The Constitution and Bill of Rights were adopted in 1789 and 1791, respectively.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh Likes Baseball

The essential Washington Post reports that Brett Kavanaugh not only likes baseball, he likes it so much he bought season tickets with his credit card. But this is just the beginning…

Sources inform me, the Washington Post is very close to nailing down stories that will reveal Kavanaugh’s similar affection for apple pie, his mother, the American flag, hot dogs, the Baby Jesus, and that poster of Raquel Welch in a fur bikini.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh Ran Up Credit Card and Loan Debt

The essential Washington Post broke the news Wednesday that, in 2016, Brett Kavanaugh was in debt to the tune of $60,000 to $200,000.

Apparently, Kavanaugh went into debt to purchase season baseball tickets (see #6) for himself and for his friends.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh Paid Off His Debts

The essential Washington Post reports that in 2017, Brett Kavanaugh’s “credit card debts and loan were either paid off or fell below the reporting requirements.” Apparently, this happened after his friends reimbursed him for the season baseball tickets he purchased on their behalf (see #6 and #7).

In other words… Brett Kavanaugh purchased season baseball tickets for his friends… who later reimbursed him.

Un-be-leeeev-a-bull.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh Drank Beer in College

The irreplaceable Washington Post once again brings democracy to darkness, or darkness to democracy, or light to the darkness of democracy, or darkness to my brain locked up again.

“In Kavanaugh’s Georgetown Prep yearbook,” the darkness lighters at WaPo report, “he listed himself as the treasurer of the Keg City Club — 100 Kegs or Bust and included references to the Beach Week Ralph Club and Rehoboth Police Fan Club.

In other words, Donald Trump nominated a man for the Supreme Court who enjoys baseball, beer, the beach, and police officers.

  1. Most of Brett Kavanaugh’s Law Clerks Were Women

The indispensable New York Times reports that of the 48 law clerks Kavanaugh hired over the years, 25 were women, and they are now vouching for his integrity and professionalism.

This is [checks notes] a bad thing. I’m shocked that this is actually allowed to happen in the era of #MeToo.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh Has Two Daughters

The essential HuffPo reports that Brett Kavanaugh is “an attentive father to two young daughters and a man who has actually hired women more than a few times to work with him,” but correctly points out that “this, of course, is almost totally irrelevant when it comes to whether he would make a good Supreme Court justice.”

And that is exactly right, because we all know that if Brett Kavanaugh was a terrible father who never hired women, HuffPo would find that just as irrelevant.

Remember, character no longer counts, unless we are talking about Trump, then character counts even though it didn’t for Bill Clinton but does not again with Kavanaugh because brain lock.

  1. Brett Kavanaugh Might Have Mouthed the Word ‘Bitch’ at Hillary 20 Years Ago

While the media have made it okay to call Ivanka Trump a “feckless cunt,” President Trump a “cockholster,” and to boo a rape victim, the word “bitch” has not yet been cleared by our media ministers.

Calling Hillary Clinton a “bitch” (according to a single source, her bottom bitch David Brock) is obviously a disqualifier to sit on the Supreme Court — which means that seat will never be filled.

Congress Demands State Department Release Secret Report Busting Myth of Palestinian Refugees

H/T The Washington Free Beacon.

We need to pressure our members of Congress to release the report that Senator Ted Cruz(R-TX) is trying to get released.

Way too many American tax dollars are being funneled the terrorist that end up killing Americans and Israelis.

Cruz, congressional insiders pressuring Trump administration to expose long classified report

Key lawmakers in Congress are increasing pressure on the Trump administration to release a long classified government report on Palestinian refugees that insiders have described as a potential game changer in how the United States views the refugee issue and allocates millions in taxpayer funding for a major United Nations agency, according to conversations with senior congressional officials working on the matter.

The State Department has, since the Obama administration was in office, been hiding a key report believed to expose the number of Palestinian refugees as far smaller than the U.N. and other have claimed for decades. The public release of this information could alter how the United States provides funding for Palestinian refugees.

The Washington Free Beacon first disclosed the existence of the refugee report in January, when the Trump administration decided to significantly cut funding to the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, or UNRWA, an organization long accused of harboring anti-Israel bias and of aiding Hamas terrorists in the Palestinian territories.

Though the State Department is legally required to publish an unclassified version of the report, it has repeatedly ignored demands by Congress that the report be released.

The State Department, when asked by the Free Beacon, could not provide any information or timeframe on the report’s possible release.

“The State Department is committed to taking all appropriate measures to provide information in response to requests from Congress,” a State Department official said.

Rep. Doug Lamborn (R., Colo.) spearheaded the initial effort to declassify the report. Congress must have a complete picture of the Palestinian refugee situation in order to ensure that U.S. taxpayer funds are not being wasted, he told the Free Beacon in April.

“It is critical that Congress investigates the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which operates under the United Nations (UN) using a different definition of a refugee for Palestinians than all other UN refugees around the world,” Lamborn said.

Congressional demands that the report be publicly released come at time of mounting criticism for UNRWA, which is facing a severe cash crunch following the Trump administration’s decision to reduce U.S. funding. The tense situation with UNRWA has sparked protests in the Gaza Strip, where UNRWA mainly operates and employs hundreds.

In addition to regional protests over UNRWA’s inability to pay salaries, Turkey was recently appointedat the U.N. to chair the agency’s advisory committee for the next year. This has stoked concerns that UNRWA could take an even more anti-Israel position in the coming months.

Sources with direct knowledge of the report’s contents have told the Free Beacon it puts the number of actual Palestinian refugees at around 20,000, far fewer than the 5.3 million figure routinely pushed by UNRWA and pro-Palestinian advocates who want to see the United States and international partners continue sending millions in aid to the Palestinian government.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas), one of the main lawmakers pressuring the Trump administration to release the report, told the Free Beacon that efforts to suppress the information on the actual Palestinian refugees is preventing Congress from providing oversight for the U.S. taxpayer.

“UNRWA lashes out against America and engages in anti-Semitic incitement. Hamas terrorists use UNRWA facilities to target Israeli civilians,” Cruz told the Free Beacon. “The American people deserve to see this reported State Department assessment, so Congress and the administration can have a transparent and productive debate about America’s role in the organization.”

Now that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is running the State Department following the ouster of former head Rex Tillerson, lawmakers and senior congressional officials see a renewed opportunity to ensure the refugee report is released.

They continue to view the classified report’s findings as a critical tipping point in the debate over UNRWA’s funding and core mission, which has found itself subjected to increased scrutiny as a result of what many allege is UNRWA’s anti-Israel bias and close relationship with Palestinian terror groups.

One senior congressional official who has been involved in the UNRWA issue for several years questioned why the Trump administration is continuing to keep the report classified, particularly as the White House amps up efforts to foster peace between the Israelis and Palestinians. The refugee issue has long been a sticking point in peace talks.

“It’s not really a question of what they’re hiding,” said the source, who was not authorized to speak on the record about the situation. “We know what’s in the report because it’s just a matter of mathematics and demographics. The number of refugees was half a million people to begin with, and that was 70 years ago so many of them have passed away, so it can’t be five million now.”

“The question is why the Trump administration is trying to lock in the Obama era policy of never letting this report see the light of day,” the source said.

When Does the Shooting Begin?

H/T Town Hall.

Eric Erickson makes a good point about some mentally disturbed DemocRat starting to shoot people because of leftist propaganda.

The question is when and where will the shooting begin and how many people will be severely injured and killed?

ach time Republicans do something Democrats do not like, Democrats escalate their rhetoric. The right is not immune from this, but the right is in power right now, so conservatives have less with which to drive fear.

After the Southern Poverty Law Center declared the Christian based Family Research Council a hate group intent on harming gay rights, Floyd Lee Corkins walked into the Council’s offices with Chick-fil-A sandwiches and a gun intent on murdering the employees and stuffing their mouths with the sandwiches. Also a fan of the Southern Poverty Law Center and its anti-Christian and anti-Republican rhetoric, James Hodgkinson took seriously the Democrat and progressive left’s rhetoric that Republicans would kill people by repealing the Affordable Care Act. He drove to a baseball field and attempted a mass assassination of Republican members of Congress.

Both men had serious mental issues. But both were provoked by extreme rhetoric from the left. Progressives once claimed Republicans were racist. Now they claim Republicans are racist killers who need to be stopped. According to Democrats, Republicans attempted to kill people through passing tax cuts, repealing Obama era net neutrality regulations, merely considering the repeal of Obamacare and now by the president nominating Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

We are already at a point where progressive protestors are showing up at the homes of Trump administration employees. White House staff, members of Congress, Fox News personalities and other notable conservatives are getting harassed and thrown out of restaurants. A random 16-year-old in San Antonio, TX was assaulted in a restaurant last week for wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap.

Democrats have now convinced a good portion of their base that Russia stole the 2016 election and that Russia is trying to steal the 2018 election as well. In fact, some Democratic consultants are already warning that Democrat leaders may be suppressing their vote by saying Russia is going to steal the election.

Democrats are increasingly vocal about the idea that they think Republicans in Congress are doing Russia’s bidding. They view Donald Trump as an authoritarian figure waiting for just the right moment to suspend elections and impose a dictatorship. Hollywood Director Josh Whedon declared merely considering Kavanaugh’s nomination would create the first American dictatorship.

On Independence Day, “The First Purge” came out in theaters. The movie posits that the National Rifle Association backed a coup that put a dictatorship in power in the United States. Democrats consider the group a terrorist organization that Republicans show fealty to. They also believe Immigration and Customs Enforcement is a terrorist organization that should be abolished.

In the 24 hours after President Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared Kavanaugh would be “a destructive tool on a generation of progress for workers, women, LGBTQ people, communities of color [and] families” and that he would “radically reverse the course of American justice [and] democracy.” Yale law students declared people would die because of Kavanaugh. NBC News journalists spread, as news, a false rumor that Anthony Kennedy negotiated his retirement contingent on Kavanaugh’s appointment.

All of this is just hyperbole designed to motivate a political base and fundraise. But this is the world in which a man attempted the mass assassination of Republican members of Congress inspired by similar rhetoric. And things have gotten far worse since then.

To believe Democrats, voting no longer matters because Russia is stealing the elections; Republicans are doing the bidding of a terrorist group; another terrorist group runs part of the government forcibly separating children from their parents; Republicans are letting corporations kill Americans; Anthony Kennedy is ensuring Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court to protect the NRA, Christian fundamentalists, and a president who should otherwise be indicted; and the system is rigged. The Democrats’ call to action is “stop this.”

How long before more Hodgkinsons believe the dystopian picture painted by the Democrats? The Russians are in charge, voting no longer matters, the system is rigged, and the Supreme Court is now a tool of a would-be dictator. It is only a matter of time before “stop this” leads to “shoot them.”

Before the Navy SEALs

H/T Beyond The Band Of Brothers.

I remember when I was young they were called Frogmen.

The famous force has its roots in WWII

Our readers are probably familiar with the recent ordeal of a dozen Thai children and their soccer coach who were trapped in a flooded cave for 18 days. Their dramatic rescue involved over 1,000 people, including many Thai Navy SEALs, one of whom died during the operations. Most readers might not have been aware that the Thai military had its own Navy SEAL unit, officially called the “Naval Special Warfare Command, Royal Thai Fleet,” let alone that it’s actually 6 years older than American SEALs. Today we’ll celebrate the rescue mission and honor the sacrifice of Thai SEAL Saman Kunan by looking at the World War II origins of the U.S. Navy SEALs, who might be slightly younger but still gave the Thai unit their popular name.

American military diving dates back at least to the Civil War and the Battle of Mobile Bay, when Union soldiers swam ahead of Admiral Farragut’s ships to locate and disable Confederate mines. Naval diving received another boost before World War I, when America’s troubled submarine program saw numerous accidents and necessitated the development of underwater rescue and salvage operations. This investment paid off in spades after Pearl Harbor, when some 20,000 man-hours of underwater work allowed many ships to be recovered and fight again.

The first force that was clearly a precursor of the Navy SEALs was the Amphibious Scouts and Raiders. A joint Army and Navy project launched eight months after Pearl Harbor, their purpose was to identify and reconnoiter the landing beaches in advance of an amphibious force, then direct the landing units to the right spots. “Hell Week,” an important part of modern SEAL training, harks back to the training regime of the Scouts and Raiders. The first Scouts and Raiders unit made its debut in Operation Torch, the landings in Africa, and went on to assist landings in Sicily, Italy, Normandy and Southern France.

A second unit was set up for the Pacific whose tasks also included the handling of early casualties and the clearing of beach obstacles. A third unit was created for a special mission in China but the war ended before they could truly fulfill their task. Their mission was to stay behind enemy lines and organize a joint Chinese-American guerilla force that would strike at the Japanese from rivers and lakes, using steamboats and sampans to get around.

Another ancestor of the SEALs were the Naval Combat Demolition Units (NCDU). Formed shortly after the Scouts and Raiders, they were trained in demolitions, cable cutting with explosives and commando raiding techniques. They also debuted during Operation Torch, cutting cables and nets protecting a river, allowing a ground force to travel upstream and capture an airfield. They also proved their mettle on D-Day: on Omaha Beach, the 175 NCDU men suffered a 52% casualty rate but still blew eight gaps in the German defenses. They were also present on Utah Beach and at various Pacific locations throughout the war.

The Maritime Unit of the Office of Strategic Services, the precursor of the CIA, employed operational swimmers, who are sometimes considered the World War II force closest to modern SEALs. Their tasks included gathering information, dropping operatives behind enemy lines, rescuing downed airmen and attacking ships with limpet mines. They pioneered such equipment as flexible fins, diving masks, closed-circuit diving equipment and swimmer delivery vehicles, which had originally been invented by the Italians back in World War I.

unnamed (5)
Lieutenant John Booth, commanding officer of Operation Swimmer Group 2

The last group considered a close ancestor of the SEAL teams were the Underwater Demolitions Teams (UDT). In November 1942, American forces suffered heavy casualties at the Battle of Tarawa, when landing craft ran aground on coral reefs. The task of this new force, originally comprising Seabees and a few Scouts and Raiders, was to avoid similar future fiascos by performing reconnaissance in landing areas and blowing up reefs and other obstacles. At first, UDTs were supposed to wear fatigues and life jackets and stay in their boats during work, similarly to NCDUs. Early experiments, however, revealed that stripping down and getting into the water in daylight hours yielded much more accurate information on obstacles and this method became the force’s standard practice. Seeing action in every major operation of the Pacific, including Guam, Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa and Iwo Jima, the “Naked Warriors” of the UDTs created the popular image of a military diver wearing nothing but swimming trunks, fins and diving masks, wielding a single Ka-bar knife as a weapon.

Almost all UDTs were demobilized after the war but the force experienced a resurgence and saw quite a bit of action in the Korean War. The lessons of the conflict helped further refine the style of warfare that eventually became the specialty of the U.S. Navy SEALS once they were established in 1962.

We would like to dedicate this article to the memory of Saman Kunan and all military divers around the world who risk their lives protecting their country and helping those in peril.

Hillary Clinton: I Worry the GOP Wants to Turn Back the Clock to the 1850s

H/T Breitbart.com.

Every time the Hildabeast and Crazy Maxine open their mouths it is a gift to the Republican Party.

The Hildabeast and Crazy Maxine display the mental illness that is rampant in the DemocRat Party.

Friday during a speech to the American Federation of Teachers, 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh makes her “worry” the Republican Party wants to turn back the clock “to the 1850s.”

Clinton said, “Let me say a word about the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. This nomination holds out the threat of devastating consequences for workers’ rights, civil rights, LGBT rights, women’s rights, including those to make out own health decisions. It is a blatant attempt by this administration to shift the balance of the Court for decades and to reverse decades of progress.”

She added, “I used to worry that they wanted to turn the clock back to the 1950s. Now I worry they want to turn it back to the 1850s.”

ICE: SAN DIEGO CHAINSAW ATTACKER IS ILLEGAL ALIEN WHO HAS BEEN DEPORTED 11 TIMES

H/T The Daily Caller.

Murdering scum like this is why ICE should never be abolished and the wall needs to be built.

We are getting this kind of scum with ICE just think of the scum that we would get without ICE.

A California man who allegedly attacked his wife with a chainsaw is an illegal alien who has been deported at least 11 times since 2005, immigration officials confirmed Friday.

Alejandro Alvarez Villegas, 32, was arrested Thursday in Chula Vista, California, a suburb of San Diego, on allegations that he tried to kill his wife with a chainsaw in front of their three children.

Alvarez has a long record of being deported and returning to the U.S., according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“Department of Homeland Security databases indicate Mr. Alvarez-Villegas is a serial immigration violator who has been removed from the United States 11 times since 2005,” an ICE spokesperson said, according to NBC 7 San Diego.

The incident began Wednesday, when police in the Los Angeles suburb of Whittier responded to a domestic violence call and found Alvarez’s wife inside their home with chest wounds caused by a chainsaw. The next day, Chula Vista police pulled over Alvarez in an SUV that had been reported stolen in Los Angeles.

Alvarez allegedly tried to ram a police car during the traffic stop, but officers were able to arrest him without any injuries, Chula Vista Police Lt. Kenny Heinz said, according to NBC 7.

Immigration officials have lodged a retained for Alvarez with the Whittier jail, where he is being held on suspicion of attempted murder, child endangerment, hit and run, and grand theft auto, the Los Angeles Times reported(RELATED: Suspect In DUI Death Of Colts Player Is Twice-Deported Illegal Immigrant)

Alvarez’s wife was transported to a local trauma center for surgery. She is expected to survive.

The couple’s children, ages 10, 8 and 5, were not hurt and have been placed into protective custody.

Full Panic: The Democrats’ Dubious Arguments about the Supreme Court

H/T Clash Daily.

The DemocRats need to be reminded of a quote from Bathhouse Barry Obama shortly after being inaugurated in 2009.

Elections have consequences.” It’s the political way for winners to tell losers: “Tough luck, you lost. Get over it.”

In August of 2015, long before Donald Trump had secured the Republican nomination, Frank Weil wrote in the Huffington Post, “Therefore, perhaps for the first time in history, the role of future Supreme Court appointments really might or should become the pivotal issue in this Presidential election.” Candidate Hillary Clinton said during the election, “I feel that at this point in our country’s history, it is important that we not reverse marriage equality, that we not reverse Roe v Wade, that we stand up against Citizens United, we stand up for the rights of people in the workplace.”

Then candidate Donald Trump viewed it a bit differently.

I feel that the justices that I am going to appoint – and I’ve named 20 of them – the justices that I’m going to appoint will be pro-life. They will have a conservative bent. They will be protecting the Second Amendment. They are great scholars in all cases, and they’re people of tremendous respect. They will interpret the Constitution the way the founders wanted it interpreted.

The contrast between the two could not be more vivid.

Who won? Well, we know the answer to that, don’t we? The Democrats, in what has become their usual “resist everything” manner, are firing out a wide range of spurious arguments about the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh. Here’s a guide to how their ridiculous arguments can be answered.

President Trump won the election and gets to make the selection. The argument some Democrats like to make is that because President Trump didn’t win the popular vote, he should appoint someone that Democrats would approve. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer privately urged President Trump in a phone conversation to nominate Merrick Garland. Schumer’s contention was that this would “unite the country.” Ezra Klein, in the liberal Vox, lamented how “four out of the Supreme Court’s nine justices — all of whom have lifetime tenure — will have been nominated by presidents who won the White House, at least initially, despite losing the popular vote.”

It seems Democrats have forgotten the words of one of their own heroes. It was President Obama who wryly noted, “Elections have consequences.” Donald Trump won the election, which have been throughout our history decided in the electoral college and gets to make the selection. He doesn’t have to appease the Democrats with his pick.

This is not a presidential election year. The most popular Democrat argument, at least today, is that Senator McConnell should follow his precedent and not vote on a Supreme Court nominee in an election year. That sounds reasonable on the surface, I suppose, if it were true. But it isn’t.

When President Obama nominated Merrick Garland on March 16, 2018 the country was eight months away from a presidential election. Our next presidential election is over two years away. It is an inconvenient fact, but a fact nevertheless. As for the Gorsuch seat being “stolen”, that, too, is a ridiculous supposition. Democrat Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii revealed what happened when he said, “We made a calculation that we were going to win the 2016 presidential election and confirm a nominee. And it didn’t work out.” The Democrats were not too concerned about Merrick Garland during 2016 and were confident that it didn’t matter that he didn’t get confirmed. Their miscalculation doesn’t equate to a “stolen seat”.

The court needs justices who interpret and not make the law. The blasts from the left against Judge Kavanaugh contend that he is out of the mainstream of American thought and is a right-wing ideologue. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey of Massachusetts called him, “a right-wing ideologue who will be committed to overturning Roe vs. Wade.” Liberal Democracy for America railed, “Donald Trump’s decision to nominate a reactionary ideologue like Brett Kavanaugh and shift the balance of the U.S. Supreme Court even further right represents a generational assault on justice, freedom, and our country’s core democratic values.”

Sounds like Judge Kavanaugh is a foaming at the mouth, raving lunatic, right? Let’s see. As a judge, he is a committed textualist and originalist, one whose time on the bench has revealed a unique ability to apply these principles to legal facts. He is a family man. He was born in Washington and grew up in Bethesda, Maryland. He is still close to his parents. His mother was a high school teacher and then became a judge. His father was an attorney. He met his wife Ashley just before 9/11 and they’ve been married for about fourteen years. They have two daughters, Margaret and Liza. He has mentored underprivileged children, served meals to the homeless and coached his daughters’ Catholic Youth Organization basketball teams.

Does he seem like a fire-breathing, crazy nut case to you? “Even though he has Ivy League credentials and a fancy job, he’s kind of a regular, all-American guy. He likes to play basketball and drink beer. It’s very refreshing in a town like Washington,” said Helgi Walker who worked with Kavanaugh in the White House counsel’s office.

The Democrats will raise as many dubious arguments as they can to sabotage this Supreme Court nomination. Truth will have little to do with their questions in hearings or in their votes. For the Democrats in this situation, they embody the famous line from A Few Good Men, “You can’t handle the truth.”
