Paul Revere`s Midnight Ride

I found this on U.S.History.com.

In the spring of 1775, most of the Massachusetts Patriot leaders had taken refuge in outlying communities, fearing arrest by British officials. Remaining in Boston were two physicians, Benjamin Church and Joseph Warren, the latter serving as the group’s leader in Samuel Adams‘ absence. Paul Revere, a trusted messenger, also stayed in the city, tended his business interests and as unobtrusively as possible, kept an eye on the soldiers stationed in the city.

Revere became suspicious in mid-April when he noticed that British landing craft were being drawn out of the water for repairs — a clear indication that something was afoot. On the 16th he made a trip to Concord, a key community because it was the temporary home of the Provincial Congress and also a storehouse for militia guns, powder, and shot. He warned the residents there that redcoats were likely to be dispatched in the near future to seize the town’s arms supply. Revere’s warning was taken to heart and the townspeople began to hide arms and valuables in barns, wells, and the neighboring swamps.

On his return home, Paul Revere met with Patriot leaders in Charlestown and agreed on a plan to provide notice about the route the British would take to reach Concord. This was a necessary precaution because there was considerable doubt that Revere or others would be able to get out of Boston at the crucial time.

Revere agreed to arrange for the placement of signal lanterns in the belfry of Old North Church where they could have been easily seen across the Charles River. If one lantern were displayed, the British would be advancing by land over the Boston Neck, then north and west to Concord. If two lanterns were hung, the redcoats would have chosen to cross the Charles by boat to Cambridge, then west to their target.

The former route was unlikely because the soldiers would be clearly visible marching down the Neck, eliminating any element of surprise. The latter plan offered opportunities for concealing movement under cover of darkness and was five miles shorter than the alternative.

Revere resumed his activities in Boston, but in the early evening of April 18, he received word from a stable boy that the British were preparing boats for crossing the Charles. In short order, two other sources confirmed the initial report.

Revere Ride MapAt about 10 p.m., Warren decided that warning had to be given to Sam Adams and John Hancock, who were wanted by British authorities and were likely candidates for the gallows. A young shoemaker, William Dawes, was sent by the land route through Roxbury, Brookline, and Cambridge.

As insurance against Dawes’ capture or detention, Revere took the water route out of Boston, but his effort almost failed at its inception. Revere had forgotten cloth rags to muffle the sound of the oars for the passage across the Charles. Any noise created the risk of alerting the crew of the Somerset, a man-of-war at anchor on the river. Legend says the crossing was accomplished when a resourceful boatman acquired a petticoat from his girlfriend and used that garment to wrap the oars.

On arriving in Charlestown and gaining his mount, Revere narrowly escaped capture by two British soldiers and had to alter his route to the north. He pressed on to Lexington where he found Hancock and Adams at the home of Jonas Clark. Paul Revere was joined by Dawes, who had successfully slipped past the guards on Boston Neck, and a third man, Dr. Samuel Prescott, a resident of Concord.

Before the trio could cover the five miles between Lexington and Concord, they encountered a roadblock manned by British redcoats. Responding to the urgency of the moment, they proceeded to break through. Prescott used his intimate knowledge of the countryside to his advantage and successfully eluded capture – he was the only one of the three to complete the journey and deliver the alarm to Concord.

Dawes initially appeared to have escaped his pursuers, but was thrown from his horse and captured. Paul Revere was taken prisoner and during his interrogation deliberately provided greatly inflated numbers of militiamen awaiting the British at Concord.

During the ride back to Lexington, Revere and his captors heard shots fire and church bells ring throughout the area — events that gave some credence to Revere’s report of colonial preparations. Fearing for their safety, the British released Revere, but took the precaution of giving him a tired horse to slow his return to Lexington.

Paul Revere later joined Hancock and Adams on their retreat into the countryside, but made a frantic return to a Lexington tavern where Hancock had inadvertently left some valuable papers. As dawn broke, Revere departed from the town with the valuable documents in hand and rode past militiamen in the process of assembling. A short time later he could hear shots and see smoke in the distance, the opening round in the struggle for independence.

WIGS OFF! Maxine Waters tears into Chuck Schumer: ‘Will do anything’ to protect power

H/T The American Mirror.

Crazy Maxine is the gift that keeps on giving.

Maxine Waters isn’t about to let Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer hold her back from calling for members of the Trump administration to be harassed in public.

During an appearance on MSNBC on Sunday, Waters listened to a clip of Schumer denouncing her rhetoric as “un-American,” and was asked if she was “surprised” that Democratic leaders called her out.

“Well, I’m surprised that Chuck Schumer, you know, reached into the other house (of Congress) to do that. I’ve not quite seen that done before, but one of the things I recognize, being an elected official, is in the final analysis, leadership like Chuck Schumer will do anything that they think is necessary to protect their leadership,” she said.

“Already, you have members of your Cabinet that are being booed out of restaurants,” Waters said in LA last Saturday, as the crowd erupted, “who have protesters taking up at their house, who say, ‘No peace, no sleep. No peace, no sleep,’” she continued.

“And guess what,” she predicted, “we’re going to win this battle because while you try and quote the Bible, Jeff Sessions and others, you really don’t know the Bible.

“God is on OUR side!” she declared, as the crowd went wild. “On the side of the children. On the side of what’s right. On the side of what’s honorable.”

“And so, let’s stay the course. Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up and if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” she yelled.

Waters remarks were then marred by a screeching microphone.

“Mr. President, we will see you every day, every hour of the day, everywhere that we are to let you know you cannot get away with this!” she yelled.

Police: Robber Fleeing Cops Electrocuted to Death by Jumping on Subway Tracks

H/T Breitbart’s Big Government.

This punk won the room temperature challenge and a Darwin Award.

A suspect accused of committing armed robbery at a Bronx deli early Sunday morning met an untimely end when he jumped off an elevated subway platform to escape the cops and hit the third rail, police said.

The New York Post reports that officers responded to a report of an armed robbery after midnight at the Paya Deli on W. 192 St. and Jerome Ave. when they began pursuing a suspect matching the robber’s description.

The suspect then fled on foot to a No. 4 line subway station on Fordham Road and Jerome Avenue and attempted to cross the subway tracks from the northbound side to the southbound side, police said.

While the suspect tried to cross the tracks, he hit the part of the tracks where electrical current flows and died.

Police say the suspect died of electrocution and found a gun on him while conducting a search of his body.

Officials say that a train pulled into the station around that time, but do not suspect the man died from being hit by a subway car.

Although this one suspect did not get caught by the cops alive, other armed robbers fleeing police eventually found themselves in custody. In May, a bystander witnessed an armed robbery suspect fleeing the police and tripped him, giving the officers pursuing the suspect a chance to arrest him.

CNN’s Ratings Take Another Dive, HLN Sinks Into Abyss

H/T Breitbart’s Big Journalism.

I have removed the Communist News Network, PMSNBC, HLN etc from my channel guide.

I can not stand to listen to the BS they are putting out.

While Fox News continues to dominate in the world of cable, CNN’s audience continues to shrink, reports TV Newser.

In all of cable last week (not just cable news), Fox News was number one in primetime, averaging an incredible 2.513 million viewers. Fox News even humiliated second place MSNBC, which averaged just 1.78 million primetime viewers.

But way, way, way down in 13th place, below even the Food Network, sits far-left CNN at number 13 and an average of just 914,000 viewers — which is about a third of Fox’s numbers.

In total day viewers, Fox News is again number one with 1.465 million viewers, and again humiliated second place MSNBC with just 962,000 viewers.

The conspiracy theorists who run CNN, however, are humiliating themselves with a seventh place showing of only 633,00 total day viewers.

Despite its longtime dominance, Fox News still managed to grow its total day audience by +4 percent when compared to last year. MSNBC grew by double digits. Meanwhile, CNN lost -5 percent of its primetime viewers when compared to last year.

CNN’s sister network, HLN, is a total failure, ranking at 52 with an average if just 262,000 primetime viewers and 227,000 total day viewers.

In worse news, HLN is only doing as well as it is because of decade-old Forensic Filesreruns.

Monday’s ratings illustrate perfectly what we see every day at HLN. The primetime hours hosted by CNN’s insufferable washouts — SE Cupp, Ashleigh Banfield, and Michaela Pereira — consistently lose to Forensic Files reruns (a great show, by the way) that air on HLN starting at 9 p.m.

On Monday, SE Cupp only drew 56,000 TOTAL viewers. Pereira drew just 94,000, and Banfield only 164,000.

Forensic Files left all three in the dust with three hours of reruns that attracted 200,000 (9 p.m.); 316,000 (10 p.m.); and 386,000 (11 p.m.).

Poll: 72% of Americans Believe Establishment Media Deliberately Report Fake News

H/T Breitbart’s Big Journalism.

The drive-by media has been spreading fake news all of my 64 years and lately, it has gotten worse.

More than two-thirds of Americans, a full 72 percent, believe “traditional news outlets knowingly report false or misleading stories,” according to a Axios/SurveyMonkey poll.

Only 25 percent of Americans believe the media “rarely” or “never” deliberately report fake news.

In other words, only one-quarter of the country believe the media are not guilty of intentionally spreading lies to mislead the American people.

The partisan breakdown is even more revealing…

A full 92 percent of Republicans believe the media intentionally mislead the public. Independents are not far behind, with 79 percent. Even a majority of Democrats, 52 percent, agree, with only 46 percent disagreeing.

And… as if to prove the poll’s point, the Axios report on its own bombshell poll is wildly misleading.

No fair-minded journalist can look at these numbers and not be blown away by the fact that the establishment media have so lost the trust of the American that a breathtaking 72 percent now believe (and for good reason) fake news is reported deliberately.

Seventy-two percent.

Nevertheless, as a means to bury this bombshell of bad news, the left-wing Axios focuses instead on the Republican number of 92 percent, as if to say this is a partisan problem, when there is no question the media have a massive and well-deserved credibility problem all across the board.

The misleading Axios headline reads, “92% of Republicans think media intentionally reports fake news,” which is a deliberate attempt to keep the focus off of the 72 percent.

The top portion of the Axios write up focuses only on the Republican number and summarizes it this way, “The data shows that trust in the media is heavily influenced by partisan politics, with Republicans more skeptical of mainstream media than their Democratic and Independent counterparts.”

Talk about misleading spin. Republicans may be the most skeptical, but we are only talking about a 92/72 percent spread between Republicans and the entire country.

Of those who believe fake news is deliberate, a whopping 65 percent say this is because “people have an agenda.”

Only 30 percent blame the establishment media’s fake news spree on  “laziness” or “poor fact-checking.”

Naturally, the far-left Axios attempts to blame President Trump for “exacerbate[ing] the skepticism amongst hardline conservatives with polarizing language (and tweets) about the mainstream media being ‘fake news.’”

“Hardline conservatives?”

Does the mean 72 percent of America is made up of “hardline conservatives?”

Nowhere does Axios mention the countless lies the media have been caught reporting over the last few years.

You see, according to the Politico washouts who created Axios, the media only have a perception problem, not a credibility problem.

Talk about fake news.

Hysterical Hillary Goes After Melania In An Incoherent Rant

H/T Clash Daily.

The more the Hildabeast is screeching about the election or the Trumps the better it is for the Republicans.

Can anyone possibly guess why Hillary hates Melania so much?

This couldn’t be ‘mean girl’ petty jealousy, could it?

Not only is she married to the guy who beat ‘impossible’ odds in the 2016 election, but she’s the First Lady. And Melania DOESN’T have to wear pantsuits.

In fact, on Inauguration Day — where Trump, not Hillary was sworn in as President — Melania was compared to Jackie O.

Was Hillary EVER compared to the FLOTUS of “Camelot”? Even back when she was still young?

No.

So in her Blame America from Abroad tour, Hillary sat down with the Guardian to tell the world just how horrible America is, and how she’s going to rescue America from itself. How the woman who couldn’t even find her way to Wisconsin plans to do that is anybody’s guess. But she thinks she can. It was, after all, the interview in which she compared herself to Churchill before walking it back … a little.

She spoke about Melania. Not her visit to the kids itself:

Melania Trump

@FLOTUS

Today’s visit to to spend time with children & thank the many hardworking individuals helping to care for them was very meaningful. Thank you to @SecAzar @HHSGOV for traveling w me today & the care you are giving these children in such a difficult time.

She spoke about the $39 jacket Melania wore into the plane, but not to the event itself. And she’d have us believe she’s absolutely flummoxed by it.

The only questions I see floor her concern Melania Trump.

What did Clinton make, I ask, of her public statement about “hating” to see families separated? “I didn’t know what to make of it.” I ask how she interpreted the jacket the first lady wore to visit a child detention centre, bearing the opaque and intriguing slogan: ‘I really don’t care, do u?’ Clinton slumps back in her chair, wide eyed, arms spread, defeated by the mystery. “That, I have no idea. I have no idea. I can’t even … I don’t have any idea. I don’t know.” Does she feel sorry for the first lady? “I don’t know. I honestly don’t know.”

Source: Guardian

Thanks to whoever put this meme out there, because it sums up that interview perfectly!

What is she, fifteen? And she wanted Americans to trust HER with the nuclear football?

Don’t worry, Hillary. We’re not trying to silence you. In fact, we WANT you to keep talking.

You’re a liability to your own team.

With Kennedy Retirement, Trump Can Strengthen a Pro-Second Amendment Supreme Court

H/T AmmoLand.

With the appointment of Mike Lee to the Supreme Court, the court will be more Constitution friendly and more gun rights friendly.

Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)-  On Wednesday, Associate U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced that he is retiring effective July 31, 2018. The move signals the end of Kennedy’s 30-year career on the nation’s highest court, which bore witness to its most important decisions concerning the Second Amendment.

It also creates the opportunity for President Trump to appoint a replacement who will help reinvigorate the stalled progress in Second Amendment jurisprudence.

Gun rights supporters will remember Kennedy for his vote recognizing the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms in the landmark 2008 District of Columbia v. Heller ruling. Kennedy reaffirmed his fidelity to this constitutional right in the 2010 case McDonald v. Chicago, which incorporated the individual right to keep and bear arms to the states through the Fourteenth Amendment.

Kennedy was also at times critical of federal overreach into state matters concerning firearms regulation. In the 1995 case United States v. Lopez, Kennedy joined a 5-4 majority to strike down the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990, which the court determined went beyond the federal government’s authority to regulate interstate commerce. In the 1997 case Printz v. United States, Kennedy joined another 5-4 majority in determining that the federal government, through the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, could not force state and local law enforcement officers to conduct background checks on handgun buyers.

Since McDonald, however, the Supreme Court has shown a reluctance to defend the Second Amendment as a right commensurate with other portions of the Bill of Rights. In 2015, Justice Clarence Thomas was joined by Justice Antonin Scalia in a dissent from the denial of certiorari in Friedman v. Highland Park, a case which concerned a ban on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms. Thomas noted, “The Court’s refusal to review a decision that flouts two of our Second Amendment precedents stands in marked contrast to the Court’s willingness to summarily reverse courts that disregard our other constitutional decisions.”

Earlier this year, Thomas further expressed his frustration on this matter in a dissent from the denial of certiorari in Silvester v. Becerra, a case which challenged California’s 10-day firearms waiting period. Thomas explained, “If a lower court treated another right so cavalierly, I have little doubt that this Court would intervene. But as evidenced by our continued inaction in this area, the Second Amendment is a disfavored right in this Court.” The justice went on to lament that “[t]he right to keep and bear arms is apparently this Court’s constitutional orphan.”

With Kennedy’s retirement, President Donald Trump now has his second opportunity to shape the Supreme Court.  There is every reason to believe that he will choose a nominee that will diligently work to uphold Americans’ Second Amendment freedoms.

The president’s previous choice, Justice Neil Gorsuch, wasted no time in declaring his support for the right to keep and bear arms. Less than three months after taking office, Gorsuch joined Thomas in a dissent from the denial of certiorari in Peruta v. California, a challenge to the state’s may-issue carry regime.

Moreover, defending the Second Amendment continues to be a focal point of the president’s agenda. On the same day as Kennedy’s retirement announcement, President Trump hosted a group of 150 student leaders at the Face-to-Face With Our Future event. During his remarks to the group, the president stated, “You have to believe in protecting the entire Constitution, as written, including the right to free speech and the right to keep and bear arms. Second Amendment.”

Even with a Republican majority in the Senate, gun rights supporters will need to once again become engaged in order to ensure that a pro-Second Amendment nominee reaches the bench. The president’s opponents are already calling on their allies in the Senate to oppose the unnamed Trump nominee by any and all means. Mere hours after Kennedy’s announcement, long-time MSNBC political commentator Chris Matthews likened the coming nomination clash to the Spanish Civil War.

That sort of hysteria aside, the stakes are indeed high. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, and Sonia Sotomayor have all made clear their view that the Second Amendment does not protect an individual right. And Justice Elena Kagan undoubtedly agrees with them.  At a 2009 lecture to the Harvard Club of Washington, D.C., Ginsburg went so far as to call for Heller to be overruled, telling the audience that the dissenting opinion in the case “appeal[ed] to the intelligence of a future day.” In 2016, Ginsburg reiterated her position, calling Heller “a very bad decision.”

In the coming weeks and months NRA-ILA will keep gun rights supporters up to date with the latest news regarding the nomination process and with information on what they can do to help secure a pro-Second Amendment Supreme Court that will protect the right to keep and bear arms for decades to come.  Stay tuned.

Tina Fey Leads Broadway Stars in Benefit Concert for Illegal Border Crossers

H/T Breitbart’s Big Hollywood.

I say each celebrity at this concert take in and provide for 10 illegals.

NEW YORK (AP) — Tina Fey is joining some of Broadway’s biggest stars — including Audra McDonald, Idina Menzel and Chita Rivera — for a concert being livestreamed Saturday to benefit migrants on the Mexican border.

It’s being organized by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, who were prompted to act after seeing photos of children separated from their families. They began texting as many stars as they could think of.

“Seeing the images, we were really depressed,” Wesley said Friday. “It was so overwhelming. What do you do? All we can do is put on a show and hopefully educate people.”

The concert is set for 5 p.m. EDT at The Cooper Union in downtown New York City. It will be broadcast via Facebook Live and at ConcertsforAmerica.com .

The lineup also will feature Brian Stokes Mitchell, Norm Lewis, Matt Bomer, Jorge Avila, Mandy Gonzalez, Jeremy Jordan, Olga Merediz, Andrew Rannells, Keala Settle, Shaina Taub and Patrick Wilson.

Highlights will include Rivera singing “America” from “West Side Story” and the reuniting of McDonald and Mitchell for “Wheels of a Dream” from the musical “Ragtime.” Settle is flying into New York specifically to perform “This Is Me” from the film “The Greatest Showman.”

The late-afternoon timing of the concert will allow current Broadway stars like Rannells, Bomer and Gonzalez to attend the concert between their two Saturday shows. Immigrant-rights rallies across the country are also expected on Saturday.

The concert is the latest in a series of benefit shows created and hosted by Rudetsky and Wesley, the host and producer of Sirius XM’s “On Broadway” show who also organized the Broadway for Orlando group’s recording of “What the World Needs Now Is Love.”

Both men said Saturday’s show will include a mix of songs and comedy, as well as solidarity. “We always like our concerts to be optimistic and fill people with hope as well as give them a call for action,” said Wesley.

The concert comes in response to the government’s push to prosecute all migrants caught entering the country without authorization. President Donald Trump has halted his policy of taking children from their detained parents under public pressure but around 2,000 of them are still being held, with many families saying they’ve not known how to locate them.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit four non-profits that aim to protect the civil and human rights of families: Al Otro Lado, Texas Civil Rights Project, ACLU Foundation of Texas, and Florence Project. Representatives from the groups will offer their perspectives from working on the front lines.

It’s just more nonsense that the anti-gunners have thrown in the way of law-abiding citizens in California who want to own guns.

Never in your wildest imagination did they give thought to criminals and all illegal gun owners complying with their absurd desires.

Let’s also not forget that most shootings and homicides happen with pistols than long rifles making the situation moot according to the U.S. Justice Department. (Source)

They also fall far behind baseball bats, hammers, clubs and knives with the most dangrous room in the home being the kitchen.

Perhaps the best thing to do is nothing as President Trump has promised to reverse the Obama anti-gun agenda. (Source)
