Could the radical leftist end up forcing a vote to replace Pelosi as Speaker?
Pelosi’s flock is running scattershot across the countryside, hoping to goad the House Speaker into action.
The war within the democratic party is heating up once again this week, as de facto “leader” of the liberals Nancy Pelosi is again coming under fire.
Madame Speaker is no fan of President Donald Trump, and likely has never been. Her reticence to even engage with the Commander in Chief on subjects such as immigration have been a thorn in the nation’s side, as the American people look to the DC Swamp and see nothing by dysfunction, particularly within the democratic ranks.
Pelosi has been completely unwilling to hear ideas about impeachment, either – a point that has her own party losing confidence in her leadership abilities.
A group of House Judiciary Committee Democrats privately have discussed ways to increase pressure on leadership to being impeachment proceedings despite House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s wariness, according to several Democrats who spoke on the condition of anonymity to freely discuss the plan.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that we are all going to come to a point [where more has to be done] – including the speaker,” said Rep. Marcia Fudge of Ohio, a senior Democrat. “We respect her leadership and we respect her strategic sense about how these things work, her political sense. But I think we’re all getting to a point where we know something more has to be done.”
The anxious search for next steps comes as Pelosi, D-Calif., has settled on a long-game approach and most Democrats have fallen in line. She has argued that without Republican and public support for impeachment, the move is largely futile and Democrats should focus on their policy agenda ahead of the 2020 election.
Pelosi’s status as a Washington establishment elitist is likely affecting her ability to herd her wayward and ultra-progressive new flock.
